Shey Phoksundo is a stunning alpine lake located in Dolpa district, western Nepal, within the boundaries of Shey Phoksundo National Park — the largest national park in the country. Perched at an altitude of 3,611 meters, the lake is famous for its deep turquoise-blue color and remarkable clarity, as it contains no aquatic life. It is surrounded by dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks, offering breathtaking scenery. The region is culturally rich, inhabited mainly by people practicing the ancient Bon religion and Tibetan Buddhism. Beyond its natural beauty, Shey Phoksundo serves as a gateway to the remote Upper Dolpo region, making it a unique blend of wilderness, spirituality, and adventure.
